Significant highlights have been presenting celebrated filmmaker Dylan O'Neil, the pioneering world champion surfers Peter "PT" Townend and Ian Cairns, quadruple world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/MMA athlete combat sports star Fabio Leopoldo, and the half-century commemoration of West Side Story, which involved hosting the full Academy Award winning cast from West Side Story, including Oscar recipient/Golden Globe winner George Chakiris and legendary actor Golden Globe honoree/Academy Award nominee Russ Tamblyn. The Ventura Film Festival founder and executive director was selected to take part, along with several of Hollywood's premier talents, in the 50-year anniversary event of West Side Story and Hollywood's footprint/handprint ceremony for Oscar honorees Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, as well as Golden Globe honoree Russ Tamblyn at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood. This event also doubled as the official BluRay debut by Fox and MGM of the classic West Side Story, which is broadly regarded by critics and fans as the greatest musical of all time.
